Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A)
Reports To: Director of Special Education
Location: Jackson County Special Services Cooperative
Employment Type: Full-time, 187 days

Primary Purpose To provide speech-language services to students as directed and supervised by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), in accordance with Texas licensure requirements and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) guidelines.

Qualifications
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field
  • Current license as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
Experience:
  • Minimum 50 hours of fieldwork/clinical observation as required by TDLR for licensure
Responsibilities
  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings as directed
  • Implement treatment plans and Individual Education Programs (IEPs) under the supervision of a licensed SLP
  • Assist with documentation, progress notes, and therapy materials
  • Participate in ARD meetings when appropriate
  • Support generalization of skills through classroom and home carryover activities
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to support student communication needs
  • Follow district, state, and federal policies and guidelines
Working Conditions
  • Travel to assigned campuses within the cooperative area
  • Ability to lift and assist students as needed
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
